Business districts are designed to balance the parking needs of the residents, merchants and visitors who patronize those establishments.  The Parking Authority has various means to accommodate the needs of each:

Residents

Permit parking regulations will become effective at all metered spaces once meter hours have expired. This measure helps create additional parking for residents and their visitors. As a bonus to our resident permit holders, the new ordinance regulating parking meters also allows for residents to park in a metered space with their permit, during certain times prior to meter hours expiring, at no cost. Be sure to check the signage for applicable times before leaving your vehicle!

Merchants

Monthly permits are available to business owners and their employees to allow parking in the residential areas at a cost less than daily meter usage.  Leaving metered spaces available for your customers can boost your business.

Visitors

Metered parking spaces are now in effect Monday through Saturday from 9am to 12 midnight, unless posted otherwise.  Metered parking is designed to facilitate a short term parking solution for the constant flow of visitors and shoppers visiting our local businesses and restaurants. A 3 hour parking limit helps enhance the availability of parking for visitors, shoppers, and residents.  Metered parking rate: $0.25 for 30 minutes.  If you need to stay longer, you may want to consider purchasing a daily permit to park in the residential areas and avoid the need for moving your vehicle.

Industrial Business District (Dell Avenue) Regulations:

The industrial business district, located on Dell Avenue between 40th and 49th Streets, has special parking needs due to the variety of businesses and high volume of heavy trucking in the area.  Recent improvements along Dell Avenue will help balance the needs of the residents, business owners, their employees & vendors, visitors and commercial vehicles servicing those companies. Special regulations are in effect 24/7 and only affect the streets listed below between Tonnelle Avenue and Dell Avenues:

40th Street

Parking is only permitted on the North side of the street with either a residential or business permit.

42nd Street

Limited parking is permitted on the North side of the street with either a residential or business permit.

43rd Street

24 hour metered parking is available with a 4 hour limit on the North side of the street. Parking on the South side of the street will require a residential or business permit.

Dell Avenue

Parking is permitted in any of the available parking stalls along Dell Avenue with a business permit between 6am and 6pm.  Vehicles without a permit will have a 3 hour limit daily.  From 6pm to 6am, commercial vehicles are permitted to park in available stalls after purchasing the applicable commercial permit from the pay station located on 43rd Street off of Dell Avenue.

The 24 hour limit is set forth in N.J.S.A. 39: 4-207
Q:  Is a person with a wheelchair symbol license plate/placard required to deposit money when parking at a metered space?

A:  Yes. When parking at a metered space, a driver with a disability placard/license plate must put the appropriate amount of money in the meter. If the vehicle will occupy    the space for more than the maximum amount of time allotted on the meter,  the driver must fill the meter to the maximum amount allowed. This will permit the vehicle to occupy the space for up to 24 hours without having to come back and refill the meter. A municipality may require the vehicle to vacate the space after 24 hours.
